Good People & People of Faith, Many of us are not Christian in Faith, an even smaller amount are Catholic, but I have to share a reading that was part of all services this weekend, The Feast of the Holy Family! The verses below should make us all think about what could have been in our lives -- what should have been? Like many of you, I sometimes marvel at how little our Churches, of any denomination, speak out against the injustice of Family Law. I wondered the same thing about politicians -- don't they see this terrible problem? This is nothing new, you don't have to look any farther back than segregation. The South was FULL of Churches, but there was no outcry. It was seen as 'okay', 'the way it is', and 'really the best thing for all involved.' They also knew another rule -- speaking up can get you crucified! Family is important. Family deserves special protections. Change will not happen until we are willing to change and demonstrate how much we believe that. http://www.AKidsRight.Org/civil.htm These words from David Shackleton, a Canadian writer/leader, ring pretty true: "The World changes when we do." Sirach, Chapter 3:2-6,9,12-13,16 (added) For the Lord sets a father in honor over his children; a mother's authority he confirms over her sons. He who honors his father atones for sins; he stores up riches who reveres his mother. He who honors his father is gladdened by children, and when he prays he is heard. He who reveres his father will live a long life; he obeys the Lord who brings comfort to his mother. For a father's blessing gives a family firm roots, but a mother's curse uproots the growing plant. My son, take care of your father when he is old; grieve him not as long as he lives. Even if his mind fail, be considerate with him; revile him not in the fullness of your strength. A blasphemer is he who despises his father; accursed of his Creator, he who angers his mother. Have we chosen to act like bleating sheep and continue to tolerate a system which trivializes Family Rights? Have we 'written off' our losses and now live life with the little we have left -- the practical & safe solution? Without real Faith in what we believe -- how can we expect change? - John Murtari ____________________________________________________________________ Coordinator AKidsRight.Org jmurtari@AKidsRight.Org "A Kid's Right to BOTH parents" Toll Free (315) 944-0999(x-211) http://www.AKidsRight.Org/ ============================================== Our telephone: 315-944-0999 Our website: https://www.AKidsRight.Org/
