Good People,

This message contains information on:

1. Civil Rights action
2. Mama Murtari's 84th birthday
3. Recognition for your help

1. Civil Rights action
_______________________

Mary Chancellor, our PR director (contact@kids-right.org), wants
to thank everyone who sent legal advice for John Murtari (for
details see http://www.kids-right.org/protest_dm.htm). We will
try to put up a summary status page pretty soon. We are looking
for someone who is willing to champion the cause and represent
John in a civil rights action. Our hope is for a decision which
will benefit all parents and for publicity which will bring us
closer to the goals of the Family Rights Act
(http://www.kids-right.org/act.htm).

2. Mama Murtari's 84th birthday
_______________________________

John's mom will turn 84 next Friday, July 21st. She is an Italian
immigrant who came over on the boat, and now lives alone at her
home in Lyons, NY. She speaks broken English and does not drive.
It is fortunate that John has a cousin in town that can check on
her.

She was looking forward to a birthday spent with her son and
grandson--it appears she will see neither (for a family picture
see http://www.kids-right.org/grandma_dm.htm).

If you have time, please send her a birthday card. It will mean
a lot to her. Her address is:

        Caterina Murtari
        34 Franklin Street
        Lyons, NY 14489

3. Recognition for your help
_____________________________

John would like to thank those of you have written either to him
or on his behalf (please see http://www.kids-right.org/letters_jm.htm).
If you've written and your name does not appear on the above link,
please let us know.

You are welcome to write the judge

Honorable David G. Klim
Family Court
401 Montgomery Street
Syracuse, NY 13202
Office Fax: (315) 435-8594

John has also written the judge another letter (see text below).

13 July 2000

Dear Judge Klim,

I'm again asking you to please delay the rest of my sentence so I
can have the remainder of my vacation with Domenic. Please,
Judge, I cannot begin to put into words the ache both Dom and I
feel. My sentence is contingent on $20,000--I do not have that,
nor 10,000, $5,000, nor $1,000.

Last year I spent over $4,000 on visiting to see Domenic with an
actual income of about $12,000. I never get to talk to him on
the phone. Even though I write him every week, I've only gotten
one letter in return. I hope you can understand why I want to
see him, and why I am devoted to bringing positive reform to the
system.

My mother's birthday will be next Friday, July 21st, she will be
84. Mama was looking forward to spending it with her son and
grandson. Please allow that to happen. I lost $150 by not
making the scheduled flight departures, but I am allowed to
reschedule. I could be out there and ready to pick up Domenic
the day after my release.

Please let that be soon. Please use your discretion and don't
let Domenic or my mom be punished as a part of this. Please.

Respectfully yours,

SIGNED

John Murtari

Cc: Ms. Maureen Walsh, Esq.
